IRNSS-1F – India’s Sixth Navigation Satellite Launched


IRNSS-1F is the latest launched India’s sixth navigation satellite. This is named as  Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System (IRNSS), which is known as the country’s own GPS. ISRO successfully put the system into orbit.

This dedicated navigation satellite launched with the support of Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV). This is  India’s workhorse launch vehicle. IRNSS-1F provide accurate position information service (like GPS facilities) to users in India and also to the region extending up to 1,500 km from the border.

PSLV C-32 ( Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle) lifted off at 4.01 p.m. with the payload. The IRNSS-1F carrying two payloads includes:- navigation payload and ranging payload. The satellite was put into orbit 20 minutes after. 

According to sources, the signals will be available in one month. The satellite powered by two solar panels generating 1660 W. There is also one Lithium-ion battery of 90 Ampere-hour capacity. ISRO is now works for launching the last satellite in the IRNSS series, the IRNSS-1G. IRNSS-1F
