Have you heard about the Leshan Giant Buddha ? This is the World’s Largest Stone Buddha. The 71-metre (233 ft) tall stone statue is beautifully carved out of a cliff face. Thousands of visitors in China reach the place to seek fortune by praying to this Budda. 

This is built during the Tang Dynasty. Leshan Giant Buddha located at the confluence of the Minjiang, Dadu and Qingyi rivers in the southern part of Sichuan province in China. This is a wonderful stone sculpture every one must visit and this faces Mount Emei.

Mount Emei river is flowing below his feet. This statue also holds the record of tallest pre-modern statue in the world. The place and properties included in UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1996. Leshan Giant Buddha’s Construction was started in 713.

A Chinese monk named Haitong started the project with the aim of calm the turbulent waters that plagued the ships traveling down the river. After his death, about 70 years later, a jiedushi completed the construction by 803.

Leshan Giant Buddha is 71 metres (233 ft) tall and now  affected by the pollution, degradations from weathering, air pollution, and swarms of tourists. The shoulders are 28 metres wide.
