Tanot Mata Mandir Temple, Jaisalmer – The Temple Believed to be Protecting Indian Army
Tanot Mata Mandir is located nearest to the India-Pak border, in the district of Balmer near Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. The Goddess Tanot Mata incarnation of Goddess Hinglaz is worshiped here. It is located 120 km from Jaisalmer.
The temple is important to Indian Army. The temple is maintained by Border of Security Force of Indian Army. BSF have their faith in the spiritual powers of the deity, Tanot Mata. There is a huge history behind this temple.
In 1971 war Pakistan dropped many bombs on this temple, and none of them were exploded. This is the gift of grace of Tanot Mata. So all believes that the targeted bombs of Pakistan Army didn’t explode due to the Goddess Tanot Mata’s divine power. So the BSF Jawans maintain this temple premises. We can see BSF Jawan doing the Arati Pooja of Tanot Mata Temple.
Even Pakistani officers and soldiers were amazed of this wonder. And later on those people also started believing. The unexploded bombs are still kept for display in the Mandir complex (pictured above).
The most tourist attracted place Tanot temple is located 120 km from Jaisalmer in the Longewala border of Rajasthan. The road to Tanot is surrounded with miles of sand dunes and sand mountains. The best time to visit this temple is from November to January. One can reach only by hiring a private taxi which takes about 2 hours.
