Here is the list of Top 10 Most Popular Tourist Places in Telungana. Telangana is one of the most famous and historically important state in India. This is the 29 state in India which is Formed on 2 June 2014 from the northwestern part of Andhra Pradesh. It has huge historical importance. The newly formed state Telungana provides many famous and beautiful tourist spots.

Telangana houses an amazing display of arts and architecture, courtesy of it being a princely state. This state is rich with historic and urban structures. It  enshrines a huge number of ancient temples and monuments. The state is also famous for its various beautiful temples and historical monuments.

We can see several ancient monuments, temples, palaces, and other buildings. There are so much to see in Telangana and most of these attractions have been built and created by the  rulers. It is known for its remarkable history, monuments, culture and cuisine. 

1. Birla Mandir

Birla Mandir Temple is a famous temple in India which is located on the Kala Pahad Hill, Hyderabad in Telungana. The height of the temple is 280 feet. This gorgeous temple was built in the year 1976.

The beautiful architecture of the temple includes South Indian architecture as well as Rajasthani architecture. The complete structure of the temple in made from 2000 tons of white marbles. On the top of the temple there is a four-tiered Rajagopura which gives more beauty to this temple.

This temple is dedicated to Lord Venkateshwara. It is one of the celebrated forms of Lord Maha Vishnu. Devotees from all over the world came here to accept the blessing of the God and they make some offering to the temple. this temple is allows to enter all peoples of different religious faiths.

Birla Mandit Temple

Location:  It is about 1 KM from Hyderabad Railway Station. It is 6 KM from Hyderabad Bus Stand.

Entry Time: 7 AM to 12 PM and from 3 PM to 9 PM.

2. Golkonda Fort

Golkonda Fort is one of the ancient and oldest monuments in Telungana. It is the best example of Qutb Shahi period. This famous fort is located 11 km to the west of city of Hyderabad.

This fort was constructed by Kayakiya Kings during the 12th century. The architecture of the fort is marvelous. It spreads over three square kilometers.

This Qutb Shahi monument is a most attrctive sites of Hyderabad. There are eight important gates at the Golconda Fort. They are Bala Hissar Darwaza, Fateh Darwaza, Banjara Darwaza,Moti Darwaza, Patancheru Darwaza, Mecca Darwaza,Yali Darwaza, etc. These gates play an important role in the Indian History.   There is an entrance gate (Bala Hissar Gate) at the east side of the gate.

Fort Golkonda

Location: It around 8 kilo meters from the Secunderabad Railway Station.

Entry Time: 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM

3. Charminar

Charminar is very famous and pride in the city of Hyderabad. It is the landmark of this city. This famous monument was built by Mohammed Quli Qutab Shah during the year 1591.

The architecture of this famous monument is very beautiful. That was in Islamic model architecture. They uses granite and lime mortar to built this huge building. Charminar was the first monument in the world constructed using limemortar and granite. The materail that is used for the constructioncharminar is considered to be high calcium lime-mortar.

This was built to commemorate the end of the plague. It is a very big as well as remarkable construction with four minarets. This  looks even more attractive in the evening with the lights. The popularity of this monuments attracts many tourists from all around the world. Many tourists came here to enjoy the attractiveness and this beautiful architecture of this monuments.

Charminar

Location: Hyderabad. It is 4.4 KM from Hyderabad Mir Alam Mandi Road

4. Hussain Sagar Lake

Hussain Sagar Lake is a famous man-made lake which is located in the city of Hyderabad in Telungana. It was built by  Hazrat Husain Shah Wali in AD 1562. 

This lake connects 2 cities each other, they are Hyderabad and Secunderabad. It  is a popular tourist destination due to its wonderful and scenic view. This lake is popular for activities such as fish culture, water sports and boat rides

World’s tallest monolithic stone statue of Gautama Buddha located in this Hussain Sagar Lake. That stands over a concrete platform measuring 15 feet tall was constructed in the middle of Hussain Sagar. This platform is referred to as the Rock of Gibraltar.

5. Nagarjuna Sagar Dam

Nagarjuna Sagar Dam is the world’s largest masonry dam. It is most attractive tourist spots in Telungana, which is  straddling the borders of Nalgonda and Guntur districts. This Dam is built across Krishna River. The height and length of it is 1.6 kms and 1,450 meters.

This dam is one of the earliest multi-purpose irrigation and hydro-electric projects in India. It was constructed in 1967. It provide major power generator which has power generation capacity of 815.6 MW with 8 units. Nagarjuna Sagar Dam is certainly the pride of India-considered the largest man-made lake in the world.

Now this dam is under the control of Telangana state only. They provide more water to the farmers in Nalgonda and Khammam. It is an 11 billion dollar powerhouse

6. Kuntala Waterfalls

Kuntala Waterfalls is a very beautiful waterfall in the Adilabad district of Telangana. This waterfalls is the highest waterfalls in Telangana state. The height of this waterfalls is 200 feet. It is located on Kadem river in Neredigonda mandal.

This waterfalls is one of the interesting tourist spots presenting good holidaying options for one and all. People from all over the regions came here to enjoy its pleasant beauty of this waterfalls. It is about 3,000 visitors flock to the place on weekends and holidays.

It is dangerous to get into water at the bottom when the water flow is high due to sharp rocks and twists. The flow of these falls depends on the release of water from the Kadam Reservoir. This waterfalls is situated in the middle of the dense forest.

Kuntala Waterfalls

Location: It is 260 Kms from Hyderabad. It is 43 KMs from Nirmal. It is 58 KMs from Adilabad

7. Ananthagiri Hills

Ananthagiri Hills are located in Telangana near a small town called Vikarabad. It  is one of the top Tourist places in Telangana.

The River Musi is rises in the Ananthagiri hill in Ranga Reddy district and flows into the Krishna at Vedapally in Nalgonda district. The the forests here have many medicinal herbs. The major landmark in the hills is the Anantha Padmanabha Swamy temple. This temple on Ananthagiri hills is dedicated to worship Lord Vishnu.

It is nature’s paradise that is packed with enough tourist attractions. The Ananthagiri Hills area is where Osmansagar and Himayathsagar originate. This gives scenic views and ample opportunities for trekking and adventure sports.

8. Sri Rajarajeshwara Swamy Temple – Vemulawada

Sri Rajarajeshwara Swamy Temple is one of the famous temple in the state of Telungana. This temple is located in a village called Vemulawada, Karimnagar district, Telangana State. It is situated  on the banks of the Mulavagu River.

This holiest temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The Lord Raja Rajeshwara in the form of Neela Lohitha Siva Lingam. It is well known in fulfilling the wishes of the devotees. This Shrine is popularly known as ‘Dakshina Kasi’ (Southern Banaras). To the right side of the Shiva Linga there will be Sri Raja Rajeswari Devi and to the left side, there will be goddess Sri Laksmi Devi along with Lord Ganesh statues.

Mahasivarathri Jathra is a very major and notified festival in this temple. Lakhs of pilgrims from all corners of the State and from other States also visit this shrine during the Jathra and offer their vows to Lord Raja Rajeshwara.

Location:  It is 36km away from Karimnagar and 160km from Hyderabad.

10. Nehru Zoological Park, Hyderabad

Nehru Zoological Park is one of the most famous national parks in south India. The park was commissioned in 1959 and was opened for public in 1963. This zoological park is run by the Forest department, Government of Telangana.

This park  is spread over 380 acres, has more than 1,300 specimens, including animals, birds and reptiles, representing 140 species. It has breeds of inbred animals like tiger, panther, Asiatic lion, python, orangutan, crocodile, gaur, antelopes, deer and the Indian rhino

The first multi-arch masonry dam in the world Mir Alam Tank is situated in this park. This zoological park is one of the most visited destinations in Hyderabad.

Location: It is 16 km from Hyderabad.
